Wolves Appoint Sports Scientist
Wolves have appointed a new sports scientist.
John Iga, 28, has been appointed chiefly to work with the club's Academy but will also have an input at first team level under the guidance of fitness coach Tony Daley.
John, who has a degree in sports science and PHD in Exercise Physiology from Liverpool John Moores University, is due to start work in mid-July.
"Sports science is a very broad term but my work involved all aspects of psychology, bio-mechanics, physiology and the sociological aspect," he said.
"I'll be working closely with Tony and (Academy manager) Kevin Thelwell and the idea is to get all the players performing at their optimum.
"Football has changed so much in recent years that everything has to be in place in order to allow players to compete at such high standards.
"It's all about the right sort of preparation and recovery strategies to ensure the players are as physically fit as possible."
John, who will be relocating from his current base in Cheltenham, has previously worked on a consultancy basis at several Premier League and Championship clubs and came to Kevin's attention while he was working at Preston.
"As soon as I heard about this job I was really excited about the challenge," he added.
"Wolves are a great club with some impressive facilities and I'm looking forward to getting started."
Kevin is delighted John will be joining Wolves.
"John has got a fantastic pedigree and I'm delighted to have him on board," he said.
"The physical component of football is becoming more important in the modern game and John will prove an important addition to the work we do.
"John's remit will primarily be to work with the Academy groups to provide an important foundation to their physical development and I am sure he will be a major success."
