Kevin Foley is one of seven uncapped players in the squad selected by new Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni.

The Republic are set to play friendlies against Serbia in Dublin on 24 May and Colombia at Craven Cottage on 29 May.

The popular full-back will have some familiar faces for company as Darren Potter and Andy Keogh are also included in the 28 man squad.

"I've been on the bench a few times for the qualifiers but I've never come on," said Kevin.

"If I played, it would help get over the disappointment of the play-offs. It would be an honour if I get to play for Ireland this summer.

"With a new coach you have just got to look to impress from the word go."
