David Edwards has ruled himself out of Saturday's game at Coventry but it aiming to be back in contention for the league finale against Plymouth.

The midfielder was forced to make an early exit in the Ipswich game after injuring his knee.

He is still suffering pain but expects to be fit enough to be called upon in just over a week's time when he hopes there is still plenty to play for.

David says: "Hopefully I will be back in training in the early part of next week and be ready for the Plymouth game.

"I'm just doing weights and trying to strengthen up around the knee and hoping the pain goes so I can do everything that's needed in a game.

"It's not too bad, just frustrating more than anything. But it's not going to be long term.

"It's just a case of allowing it to settle down. The medical team are happy that nothing's torn.

"If I can return to training in the early part of next week then I should be OK for the Plymouth game because I'm a relatively fit lad anyway and hopefully my fitness will prove I don't need a reserve game.

"I want to be part of it. A lot of people wrote us off after Saturday, but after winning on Tuesday, I'm confident we can win our last two and, if we do that, I think we will be in the play-offs because I can't see Crystal Palace and Watford winning both theirs.

"By Saturday night we could be back in the play-off zone which would be a great boost."

David and Wayne Hennessey have both been selected for Wales' under 21 squad to play a friendly against England on Thursday May 15. Both will be released from duty should Wolves make the play-offs.
