Midfielder Hurt In Comeback Game

Posted on: Sat 19 Apr 2008

A dejected David Edwards limped out of Molineux after an injury comeback that last for just 18 minutes.

The midfielder, whose last first team action came in the defeat at Preston almost six weeks ago, was hurt in a halfway line tackle with Alan Quinn and although he tried to continue after treatment, he was finally forced from the field.

He explained: "I tried to nick the ball to Kev (Foley), but I collided with their lad.

"It hurt but I tried to run it off both before and after treatment from the physio.

"But the knee kept giving way under me and I'm no benefit to the team like that so I came off. I was desperate to carry on but it was no good.

"I thought that Sylvan's goal was going to win it for us especially when the game went so deep into stoppage time.

"I was watching the television in the dressing room and couldn't believe it when they scored. With Crystal Palace winning, it was a double blow.

"I think that Tuesday's game against Cardiff might come a little bit too soon for me although I'm not ruling myself out of contention just yet.

"They are going to look at my knee again once it's settled down a bit and hopefully then we should know how long I'll be out for - if at all.

"But if I don't make Cardiff, I hope to be involved against Coventry next week."
