Delighted With Reception
George Elokobi was delighted with the warm reception he received from the home support when he returned to Colchester on Saturday, and he was even more pleased with the three points and another clean sheet for Wolves.
The defender almost marked the occasion with a goal of his own only to be denied by Phil Ifil's last ditch clearance off the line.
"Every game you go out there people expect you to be at your absolute best - you have to produce," he reflected.
"I knew that was going to be the case and that I would have to knuckle down and perhaps work even harder and that's what I've done from day one.
"It's paying off so far, I've played three games and we've kept clean sheets in all of them.
"It doesn't get any better than that but it's not just down to me, it's the whole team.
"Of course I have sympathy for Colchester because I don't want to see them go down but this is a game of football.
"When you go and play at a former club you have to be professional and I knew I had to produce a decent performance.
"I think the fans know what I did for Colchester on and off the pitch and it was nice to see they appreciated it.
"I certainly appreciated their support and thank them for giving me such a great reception.
"Our defence are doing well at the moment and everyone is battling to be in the team and working hard to get the right results.
"To go to Colchester and win 1-0 is a very good result."
