Dan Glad To Be Back

Posted on: Thu 31 Jan 2008

Daniel Jones admits he was surprised to find himself back in a Wolves shirt so quick after returning from his loan spell at Northampton.

The Academy graduate has been at Sixfields since the start of the season but was back training at Compton on Monday.

On Tuesday he came on as a 72nd minute substitute against Sheffield Wednesday. Now he is targeting the left-back berth.

"I was told I was in the squad for Tuesday but I didn't expect to be even be on the bench for the match never mind get on. It was great to get back out there.

"I enjoyed my time at Northampton. I really benefited from playing regular football.

"I feel I've learnt a lot from (Northampton manager) Stuart Gray.

"Obviously I knew him from my time here and I was made very welcome by him and all the lads at Sixfields.

"I would have been happy to stay there if it looked like my time at Wolves was up but it was always my hope that I could come back here and compete for a place in the team."

Daniel was a regular in the League One side at left-back. It is his favoured position and one he hopes to win now he is back with his parent club.

He adds: "I feel my defending has improved and now I wasn't to get my head down and get a place in the team.

"I know there is going to be competition for places because there are a lot of good players here.

"I'm looking forward to working with Michael Gray. He's played at the top level and I think he's someone I can learn a lot from."

* As hoped, Jody Cradock returned to full training today.
