Neill Collins was in hospital awaiting the results of an X-ray on his injured ankle when he heard of Wolves' victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

It was a piece of good news for the Scottish defender who was bitterly disappointed after he had limped from the game against the Owls with just nine minutes gone.

He said: "I just went up for a header and landed badly on my foot which gave way under me.

"I tried to run it off but it was very painful and in this League you need to be 100%.

"I hate coming off but really there was no alternative. Thankfully there was no break and it's my aim to be back as soon as possible.

"I was still in the hospital when the doc phoned through to see how I was doing. It was only then that I found out we had won.

"It was a real tonic for me to hear that because we are all focussed on the same thing at the end of the season - we want promotion."

Physio Alan Peacham added: "Neill has twisted his ankle. He tried to carry on but it was too painful.

"We sent him to hospital for a routine X-ray and the good news was that there is no break.

"It will take between three to five days for the swelling in the ankle to go down and then we will know a lot more about how long he is going to be out for."
