Jones Plays Last Match For Northampton

Posted on: Fri 25 Jan 2008

Daniel Jones will return to Molineux after tonight's game between Northampton and Leyton Orient.

The Wolves Academy graduate has been on loan at Sixfields since the start of the season but boss Mick McCarthy - who will watch the 21-year-old in action this evening - wants him back.

Mick says: "I'm going to see how he does tonight but I've already made up my mind that I want him to rejoin the squad here.

"Stephen Ward has got patella tendonitis which might take a while to resolve. Although Matt Jarvis has come back (from injury) and is flying - which softens the blow - DJ will add competition for places."

The boss has not ruled out any further activity in the transfer market before the window closes at midnight next Thursday but says he is content with the current contingent.

"There's no reason why we shouldn't be happy with the squad we've got," says Mick.

"Goals have been hard to come by but Sylvan was excellent last weekend and now there's more competition for places up front."
