Michael Kightly and Jay Bothroyd are battling to recover from injury in time for Wednesday's Molineux meeting with Colchester United (kick-off 7.45pm).

The duo were both casualties in the second half of Sunday's draw with West Bromwich at The Hawthorns. Kites limped off with an ankle strain and he was followed by Jay who had suffered a dead leg.

"I tried to run it off for five minutes but it was quite painful and I couldn't carry on," said Michael.

"I was absolutely gutted to have to come off but I'd have been more upset if I had to miss games because I'd made things worse by staying on.

"Now I'm just hoping for a quick recovery."

Boss Mick McCarthy added: "With the game being played on Wednesday rather than Tuesday it gives both of them an extra 24 hours to recover."
