Boys Take Break From Training

Posted on: Wed 21 Nov 2007

It's not just the first team that has had a break from domestic football.

With no Academy match this weekend, the trainees have been spending the week brushing up on coaching techniques as part of their FA level 2 coaching certificate.

Studying for the qualification is a key part of the two-year apprenticeship the boys are undertaking with Wolves.

The first years have been working at Compton under the guidance of PFA regional coach Jamie Robinson (pictured here with Ashley Hemmings and Danny Batth). Meanwhile, the second years have been out and about with the community department putting their theory into practise with coaching sessions at local schools.

Wolves education office Nick Loftus explains: "We hope that the course will help the boys develop their own game and give them the skills and confidence to pass on what they learn to others.

"They are studying the art of coaching, will be tested on their knowledge of the laws of the game, get involved in child protection workshops, and be trained in emergency first aid."
