From Wolves To World Cup In Saturday's Programme

Posted on: Sat 19 Dec 2009

An extended interview with former Wolves defender Ricki Herbert is contained in another packed edition of the matchday magazine for Saturday's game with Bolton.

It's a topical time for Ricki, who as coach of New Zealand has guided his country to next summer's World Cup finals where tonight's draw has pitted them against Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia in Group F.

Ricki talks about his achievements with the 'All Whites' as well as memories of his time at Molineux in the somewhat darker days of the mid 1980s.

With World Cup fever currently all the rage it is also quite apt that Steve Gordos's Countdown to South Africa this week focuses in the 1966 Finals.  We all know what happened there!

And the ever-informative history section is completed with Steve's Golden Days feature, in which he describes how Wolves/ Bolton clashes of yesteryear included the Trotters' legendary forward Nat Lofthouse ending up in goal!

Meanwhile back in the present day the main player feature focuses on Matt Jarvis, the flying winger hoping to continue to put in more crosses than anyone else in the Premier League.

Karl Henry is the focus of 'A to Z', in which he reveals which of his team-mates was recently told his body was "disproportionate" and how he was ripped off whilst trying to purchase a mobile phone when a youth team player at Stoke.

The first quarter final of this season's Molineux Mind of Molineux sees Matt Hill take on Dave Edwards, while fitness coach Tony Daley goes through a typical matchday at the office.
