Mick McCarthy reveals that Michael Kightly has not been included in Wolves' 25 after a minor setback to his recovery from patella tendon problems. Kightly will continue his rehabilitation with a view to going out on loan prior to January.

A sad day as Matt Murray announces his retirement from the game. Murray's recovery from patella tendon problems had reached its end.

Mixed news ahead of Carling Cup tie with Southend. Ronald Zubar again available as is Dave Edwards. But still no Steven Fletcher, Jelle Van Damme or Steven Mouyokolo. And Karl Henry likely to be rested because of a groin problem.

The boss reveals that Kevin Doyle is back in full training. Steven Fletcher isn't as yet while Jelle Van Damme is a doubt for Saturday's trip to Everton with an ankle injury sustained against Stoke. Ronald Zubar is back training but Dave Edwards (groin) and Steven Mouyokolo (hamstring) won't be involved at Goodison Park.

Steven Fletcher departs Molineux on crutches after his goalscoring debut against Stoke. But boss Mick McCarthy believes the injury is only bone bruising and that he shouldn't be on the sidelines for too long. Kevin Doyle is also expected to make a return to training in the early part of the week.

Kevin Doyle (calf) and Dave Edwards (groin) are the two big doubts for boss Mick McCarthy ahead of the opening game of the season. Both are battling to recover from the injuries which ruled them out of the internationals.

With five days to go before the start of the season there is good news on Kevin Doyle and Michael Kightly. A scan on Doyle's calf has shown no serious damage and the striker is continuing his battle to be fit for the Republic of Ireland's game with Argentina on Wednesday. Kightly meanwhile is poised for a return to some form of full training after suffering problems with his patella tendons. Stephen Hunt continues his rehabilitation while Ronald Zubar is also currently on the casualty list with a groin injury. Matt Murray is also still working on his rehabilitation.

Christophe Berra reveals all is fine after his mild concussion with all other tests and assessments passed comfortably. Dave Edwards meanwhile is feeling good after his ankle operation and targeting a return by the end of January.
Monday, December 28
Christophe Berra suffers a nasty-looking head injury falling awkwardly going up for a header in tonight's game against Manchester City, and suffers mild concussion. However, the initial prognosis is that there is no other serious damage and he is able to return home after the game to return the following day for further assessment.
Wednesday, December 23
Andy Keogh reveals he has undergone his ankle operation and will be returning home for a few days before heading back to Wolverhampton to start his rehabilitation. The striker has a target to return of mid to late February.
Saturday, December 12
The ankle injury curse strikes again, this time with Dave Edwards during the game with Tottenham. Dave limps out of the action and initial prognosis suggests he may require an operation and again, an absence of at least two months.
Friday, December 11
More bad news for Wolves with Andy Keogh now injured. Ankle ligament damage sustained in training will need an operation and prompt an absence of up to three months. Ronald Zubar still out but Chris Iwelumo to return to the squad at Tottenham.

Michael Kightly has undergone his minor operation and started his rehabilitation. The winger, who hopes to be running again before Christmas, is also grateful the injury wasn't a lot worse given the way he fell under the challenge.

Michael Kightly is to undergo an operation on his injured ankle. Chris Iwelumo (metatarsal) and Ronald Zubar (ankle) are closing in on a return to full training. There are slight doubts over Stefan Maierhofer and Greg Halford but both should be fit for the visit of Bolton.

Matt Murray is to be on the sidelines for "months rather than weeks" with his knee injury. The injury doesn't however require an operation.

Michael Kightly is set to see a specialist regarding the ankle injury which forced him off against Birmingham. Looks like a minor operation required which will see the winger on the sidelines for six to eight weeks.

Ronald Zubar emerges as a doubt for the trip to Chelsea with a thigh problem sustained in training. It's also confirmed that Matt Murray has suffered a setback and is due for further rehabilitation on his injured knee. The setback however won't require further surgery.

Matt Murray has undergone a scan on his knee and Wolves are now awaiting the results. Good news elsewhere with David Jones, Stephen Ward and Matt Hill all closing in on a return to full time training.

Matt Murray makes his comeback after almost a year out with a ruptured patella tendon but plays only 23 minutes for the reserves. Revealed after the match it was purely precautionary as he felt slight discomfort in the knee.

Bad news for Chris Iwelumo who suffered damage to the fracture site of his previously broken metatarsal at Stoke. Faces several weeks on the sidelines.

Richard Stearman returns from his ankle problem to play 45 minutes for the reserves against Chelsea. And Chris Iwelumo also comes through the same amount of action after almost three months on the sidelines with a broken metatarsal.

Double blow for Wolves in training losing both Richard Stearman and Andrew Surman. Richard suffers an ankle injury although on the bright side an X-ray reveals no break. Andrew picks up a knee problem. Kevin Foley, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Michael Kightly all back in the squad for the Fulham game though.

Michael Kightly makes his long-awaited return from injury by playing 60 minutes as the reserves draw at West Ham. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Foley and Jody Craddock are all continuing their recoveries with an outside chance of being available for the forthcoming game with Fulham.

Jody Craddock is the latest new arrival to the casualty department after suffering a hamstring strain in training. Set to rule him out for a fortnight in total. Elsewhere though Michael Kightly is back in full training.

Bad news for Stephen Ward after his operation reveals the cartilage problem is worse than could be seen on a scan. Fortunately it can be repaired, but it means a likely absence of between two and three months.

Michael Kightly reveals he's back training with the Development squad and could be back with the first team in the coming days. Mick McCarthy reveals that Stephen Ward requires an operation to repair a slight tear in his cartilage but hoping that it's a short absence.

Greg Halford should be available for the game with Hull and Stephen Ward has a chance. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has a struggle to make the squad having interrupted his return to training. Kevin Foley is still not ready to return.

It's not been a great night for Wolves on the international front. Boss Mick McCarthy reveals Christophe Berra will definitely miss the kick-off with a hamstring injury picked up with Scotland. Kevin Doyle has suffered a slight groin injury after getting his 45 minutes with the Republic of Ireland while Wayne Hennessey tweaked his ankle in action for Wales.

Kightly has suffered some minor twinges during his rehabilitation from injury and is to receive further treatment expected to last a couple of weeks before returning to full training. David Jones however returns to the squad for the Development game with Crewe.

Striker Kevin Doyle has flown over to Germany for an operation to repair a damaged hernia. Not expected to be serious and the record signing expected back training within a fortnight.

Chris Iwelumo is back in to Compton on crutches after an operation on his broken metatarsal. Surgery went well, and the anticipated spell on the sidelines for the striker is three months.

Bad news for Matt Murray as Steve Kemp reveals he has had to undergo another operation in his bid to recover from a ruptured patella tendon. With part of the tendon not healing properly, it was agreed between Matt, the Wolves medical team and his surgeon to undergo the clean-up operation to prevent any problems later in the recovery process. Matt will not be fit until the new Premier League season is underway.

Mick has revealed that winger Matt Jarvis is unlikely to be fit for Saturday's trip to Nottingham Forest due to the medial knee ligament injury which has kept him out since the game with Cardiff on February 21. But if Matt doesn't make it, he will then have a 16-day break to complete his recovery before the trip to Birmingham. Carl Ikeme is continuing his recovery from a back injury but will not be rushed. Nigel Quashie is set to play in the Development friendly with Rushden & Diamonds as he continues to work towards full fitness after being laid low for over a week with a chest infection. Keeper Darren Ward is struggling with a sore back.

Matt Murray and George Elokobi have both received positive news following a visit to their knee specialist in London. Matt, who ruptured his patella tendon while on loan at Hereford in November, will continue his gym work and treatment with a view to returning to light jogging and handling work within two months. George has re-started light jogging after his serious knee injury sustained at Ipswich last August. Both players are still on-target for a pre-season return.
