A quartet of Wolves players made their comebacks from injury as Sam Winnall's impressive second half goal proved the winner in a closely-fought friendly with Leicester today.
Jody Craddock and Karl Henry played over an hour, Sam Vokes for 40 minutes and Steven Mouyokolo the entire second half to launch their competitive comebacks from various injuries as Wolves tamed the Foxes at the Compton training ground.
Greg Halford also played 90 minutes after returning from his loan spell at Portsmouth in a game watched by both Mick McCarthy and Leicester boss Sven Goran-Eriksson.
Leicester were first to show with Jeff Schlupp shooting just past the post and a Ben Milne corner causing problems which saw David Davis head the ball off the line.
Milne then sent over another cross in the seventh minute from which Schlupp missed a close range header.
Wolves then started to create more of the chances with Winnall getting forward and sending over a cross for Vokes who couldn't convert.
Vokes was then involved again shortly afterwards heading wide from Jamie Reckord's cross and did have the ball in the net shortly afterwards only to be flagged offside.
On 24 minutes Wolves keeper Aaron McCarey got down well to save a 25-yard free kick from Martin Waghorn before another two chances for Vokes, the first headed just wide and the second a shot deflected wide off Leicester keeper Conrad Logan.
McCarey then made another good save to deny Schlupp before Vokes went close again prior to being substituted after 40 minutes having played slightly longer than expected following his lengthy absence with a torn hamstring.
Six minutes into the second half Wolves took the lead.
Winnall, pictured, got on the end of Halford's throw-in from the right and found the net with a first time volley to put Wolves in front.
Leicester's Frank Moussa then embarked on a positive run from his own half before shooting straight at McCarey and the Wolves keeper also made decent stops from Schlupp and Waghorn as the game continued.
Moussa and Schlupp also went close in the final ten minutes as Leicester searched for an equaliser but a Wolves side boosted by solid returns from Craddock, Henry and Mouyokolo held on for the win.
