A late goal from substitute James Spray secured a win for Wolves in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Hull at Compton yesterday.
There were chances at both ends in a competitive first half with George Friend shooting over the bar for Wolves and Scott Malone having a shot cleared off the line.
Jason Shackell went close with a lob in the second half while keeper Carl Ikeme made a fine save as the game appeared to be drifting towards a goalless draw.
But then with just two minutes remaining, Ashley Hemmings flicked on a fine ball from Malone and Spray latched onto it before chipping the keeper to earn Wolves the win.
Academy scholar Spray had only come on after 81 minutes in place of Neill Collins, one of many senior players to be given a runout.
Ikeme played the full 90 minutes in goal as did Ronald Zubar in the centre of defence while Matt Hill featured for an hour.
George Elokobi and Darren Ward played a half each, Friend for 54 minutes and Shackell for 73.
"The game was a great exercise for both teams especially with it being such an important week for both clubs ahead of the new season," said Development coach Steve Weaver.
"All the players came through having enjoyed a good workout and with no injury worries.
"It was particularly nice to see James come off the bench and get the crucial goal which his efforts deserved."
