Wolves 1, Hereford 0
George Friend capped an impressive individual display in the first half with the injury time goal which secured a narrow win in a competitive Development friendly at Compton.
Friend struck on 45 minutes to ensure a strong Wolves team saw off Graham Turner's side in the lunchtime fixture.
Wolves started the game well with Alex Melbourne shooting wide and Matt Hill seeing a free kick pushed away by Hereford keeper Jose Viega.
Friend then produced a good run before feeding Sam Winnall and after his shot was blocked play was brought back for an earlier infringement, giving Wolves a free kick which David Jones fired over the bar.
Hereford had an opening when the ball found its way to Fabian Brandy on the left midway through the half but Shane Higgs was out to gather comfortably.
Friend then embarked on another run after which his shot was taken well by Viega before Neill Collins headed Kyel Reid's free kick wide of the target.
It was a spell of Wolves pressure just before the break which culminated in Friend's goal.
Reid shot past the post and Hungarian loanee Krisztian Simon and Winnall were both denied by Viega before Friend converted from Jones's corner despite appeals from Hereford that the keeper had been fouled.
The second half failed to produce as much goalmouth incident as the first with Hereford going close on 62 minutes when Andy Williams's shot was tipped over the bar by Higgs.
Three minutes later Viega saved another shot from Simon who made way for Zeli Ismail shortly afterwards.
And on 87 minutes there was a superb clearance off the line from Melbourne to deny Bradley Hudson-Odoi and ensure Wolves finished the game victorious.
