Damien's World Cup Dream
Wolves community coach Damien Wood is hoping to win a place in the England squad for the World Deaf Football Championships which take place in Greece this summer.
Following a successful trial Damien, who is hearing impaired and plays for Wolves Deaf FC, will attend the three day training camp at Lilleshall with the hope of making the national squad for the July tournement.
A former member of the Great Britain team, Damien has previously played high profile fixtures against Spain, Scotland and the USA.
Damien's role as a FA qualified coach and member of the Wolves in the Community team is to coach children and young adults who attend a variety of the club's activities - some of which are specialised sessions for players with hearing impairments. He joined the club as a community trainee in 2004 and graduated to his current role as community coach in 2006.
Damien said: "I'm really pleased to get the opportunity to train with the full England squad.
"I knew I did quite well at the trials but the call-up was still a big surprise.
"I'm going to be working very hard from now until the camp at Lilleshall and I'm really hoping to be involved in the World Championships in the summer."
