A Cracking Start

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

The Academy Under 18s got their season off to a cracking start at the weekend with a resounding 5-0 victory over Ipswich Town.

The Wolves youngsters moved into the lead after just four minutes when Jake Kempton netted after taking a pass from Andre Landell.

A piece of skill from Landell saw him create an opening from which he shot against the bar. But the striker wasn't to be denied and he added a second shortly before the break with a low cross-shot.

Liam McAlinden added a third after 47 minutes by closing down the Ipswich keeper and blocking his clearance before slotting the ball into an empty net.

Kempton completed his hat-trick with goals in the 52nd and 58th minutes - the first a left foot volley after a corner and the second a close range header after some good team work in the build up.

Unfortunately the game was marred a little by the sending off of Landell. He looked to be the incident party in a brief skirmish that also saw a Town player taking an early bath.
