Late Goal Thwarts Young Wolves

Posted on: Tue 11 May 2010

The penultimate game of the Wolves Academy under 18s season took place today at Compton Park with visitors Manchester City taking the honours courtesy of a late goal.

Of his side's performance, coach Mick Halsall said: "In the first half I thought we did well restricting City to a few shots from distance as we created some good opportunities ourselves but could not put in a telling pass or shot.

"It was a matter of managing the game better after the break in the way of keeping our shape and putting them under more pressure with forward passes.

"But unfortunately it was City, after a mix up and wrong decision in our final third, that scored from a long range shot with seven minutes to go."

The scorer of City's goal was Ahmad Banali.

The under 18s final game takes place on Tuesday, 11th May, when Blackburn Rovers provide the opposition at Compton Park.
