A late goal from Anthony Forde earned the Academy under 18s a point when they met Sunderland at Compton Park on Saturday.
Although the Molineux youngsters to a while to get into the game, they then played their part in an entertaining contest.
Coach Mick Halsall said: "I felt it was another good performance from our players albeit we only drew the game.
"The opposition were a competent side and they provided a stern test for us.
"To begin with we struggled to come to terms with their shape but, after a little bit of tinkering, we eventually got to grips with them and the game became an end to end affair.
"We fell behind midway through the first-half to a well taken free-kick and went in at the break 1-0 down.
"In the second-half we pushed onto them much more, with Nat Mendez Laing (pictured) causing them some considerable problems, and we got our reward with 10 minutes to go through Anthony Forde who scored with a good header.
"For me it was one of the best games of the season as both teams played with good commitment and spirit in trying to finish was winners."
