Wolves Academy Under 18s suffered last gasp disappointment at Stoke on Saturday, losing 1-0 to an injury time winner.

And that was after a good performance in which the team created the lion's share of chances without being able to find the net.

There were ablout 15 minutes remaining when Wolves were awarded a penalty after Johnny Gorman was brought down by Stoke keeper Dave Parton.

But Parton then made amends by saving Nathan Rooney's spot kick.

Wolves then had a goal harshly disallowed when Andre Landell was penalised for pushing after heading home Anthony Forde's cross.

That allowed Stoke to snatch a last gasp victory in injury time when substitute Adam Vickers burst through in the 93rd minute to score from close range.

"Having played well and dominated the game, to come away losing after a goal in the last minute is a big disappointment," admitted coach Mick Halsall.

"The players had showed a positive attitude to get forward and ask questions against a solid defensive unit but it times it was our final ball that let us down.

"We just have to move on from the game now and look forward to the next one against Barnsley."
