Wolves Academy's trip to Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup has been fixed for next Monday, November 30, kicking off at Anfield at 7pm.

And Academy manager Kevin Thelwell is hoping for a large turnout of Wolves supporters to cheer the team on for the testing Third Round tie.

"Our fans have always been great at getting behind the young players and it would be good for as many as possible to make the trip to Anfield," said Kevin.

"It's going to be a tough game and Liverpool will be well represented with their own fans so hopefully we'll have a fair few there as well.

"It's a great tie to have to go and play at Anfield and should be a valuable experience for everyone concerned."

Admission at Anfield will be £4 for adults and £2 concessions.

Meanwhile the Academy under-18s side registered their second successive win at the weekend, holding off Crewe 4-3 at Compton.

Nathan Rooney, pictured, converted Zeli Ismail's cross to put Wolves ahead after 12 minutes and after Crewe equalised Rooney notched his second to restore the lead before the break.

James Spray then made it 3-1 in the second half before Crewe reduced the arrears, and John Gorman, back from injury, then restored Wolves' two goal advantage.

But Crewe refused to lie down and came back again with a third goal five minutes from time, Wolves though hanging on to claim the points.

"It was another tough game in tough conditions but we dipped below our usual standards in terms of performance," said Kevin.

"Crewe have always had an excellent reputation for developing young players and as well as their distinct style of play they also have a strong, competitive edge as well.

"We had to match that, but to be honest having twice got into a two-goal advantage in the second half we should have closed the game out rather than letting them back into it.

"That made for a nervy last few minutes after their third goal but we managed to hang on for the win.

"A big positive was the return of John for his first league start since being injured, particularly as he managed to get our fourth goal."
