Creditable Point

Posted on: Wed 28 Oct 2009

Last weekend the Academy under 18s bounced back from successive defeats to take a creditable point from their game against Manchester United at Compton Park.

In fact the Molineux youngsters were just two minutes away from victory when Nicky Ajose scored a point saving goal for The Reds.

Wolves had gone two up in just ten minutes through James Spray and Nathan Rooney.

And Rooney had the chance of netting a third but United keeper Conor Devlin saved his 25th minute penalty.

Robbie Brady pulled a goal back for the visitors four minutes later and then, after an evenly fought out second period, came the late disappointment for home supporters.

Coach Mick Halsall admitted: "It was disappointing not to go on and win after being two up but I was pleased with the overall performance from the lads."
