Wolves Academy under-18s chalked up an impressive third successive win as they won away at Manchester United on Saturday.
The Academy side followed up successes against Bolton and Liverpool by coming from behind to win at United's Carrington training complex thanks to a brace from Nathanial Mendez-Laing (pictured).
Coach John Perkins said: "We fielded another young side with players like Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Jack Price and Jack Spray starting - all schoolboys.
"It was a magnificent playing surface but windy conditions and we didn't actually start the game all that well.
"United had the upper hand for the first 15 to 20 minutes and went ahead through a penalty after one of our defenders was adjudged to have handled.
"But we came into the game after that and equalised before half time.
"Jack Price had a shot beaten down but Nathanial latched onto it and scored with a low shot from just inside the box.
"United had a lot of possession without creating many chances and we made a couple of changes at half time to freshen things up, bringing on another schoolboy Louis Harris and Krisztian Simon.
"They both helped added a bit of impetus with Krisztian running at defenders and Louis passing the ball well.
"We started to open United up and after one of Krisztian's runs the ball fell to Nathaniel who went on and beat two defenders before his shot took a deflection and ended up in the top corner.
"They came back with a spell of pressure but Danny Batth and Mark Connolly did really well at the back in front of keeper Daniel Wright.
"It wasn't our best performance in the first half but much better after the break and we just about deserved the win."
And John was understandably pleased that Wolves have now won three successive games against opposition whose senior teams are in the Premier League, particularly at a time when the Academy are blooding younger players and looking ahead to next season.
He added: "It keeps it going well with the younger players and we've won three on the bounce now against Bolton, Liverpool and Manchester United.
"Performances are always very important but it's also important to learn how to win games at this age and increases confidence as well."
