Goalless Against The Blades

Posted on: Mon 22 Sep 2008

The Wolves Academy under 18s held Sheffield United to a draw when the teams met in Yorkshire on Saturday.

The Blades, unbeaten this season, could find no way through a resolute visiting defence.

"United played with a 'diamond' formation in midfield which was something we hadn't come up against before," explained coach John Perkins.

"We took a while to adjust to it and were a bit off the pace in the opening 20 minutes or so.

"Natt Laing did have a good chance in the first-half while our defence played really well with Mark Connolly and Danny Batth (pictured) both in great form.

"Sheffield fielded a very strong team and although they pressed hard they couldn't find a way through. We did have a couple of chances ourselves after the break but in the end we took a creditable point from the match."
