Another Share Of The Spoils

Posted on: Mon 18 Feb 2008

For the fourth game in succession the Academy under 18s had to be satisfied with a share of the spoils - the latest draw coming on Saturday when Bolton Wanderers were the visitors to Compton Park.

Wolves fell behind in the 20th minute when Billy Lumley was beaten by a 20-yard shot but, within five minutes, the home side were back on level terms when Kyle Bennett's quickly taken corner was helped on to Marcel Tulloch (pictured) who converted from ten-yards.

On 31 minutes, Bolton retook the lead after a cross wasn't properly cleared by the home defence but, shortly before the interval, Wolves equalised for a second time.

Lumley's long clearance fell to Ashley Hemmings who beat a defender before finding the net from just inside the area.

The second period, like the first, was evenly contested with Lumley pulling off three smart saves whilst Hemmings and Bennett both fired narrowly wide at the other end.

Coach John Perkins said: "Ours was a good team performance against a very strong Bolton team that included three under 19s in their side."
