Young Side Deserved More

Posted on: Mon 08 Oct 2007

Bolton under 18s 1 Wolves under 18s 1 (Tullock 65)

Wolves youth team were unlucky not to take all three points against a strong Bolton side.

Wanderers started with their youngest team of the season - eight of the players being under 17s. Adversely, the hosts included three under 19s in their number.

The Molineux boys started well and could have taken an early lead when Marcel Tulloch (pictured) headed narrowly wide following a good cross from Ashley Hemmings.

Then clever movement between David Ijaha and Kyle Bennett resulted in an opportunity for Mike Wardle but his effort was cleared off the line.

The visitors edged the first period but neither side could break the deadlock.

H-T: Bolton 0 Wolves 0

Wolves began the second half well, with Scott Malone and David Davis causing problems with their forward runs. But a quarter of an hour in, Bolton took the lead after converting a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Wolves battled back and their efforts were rewarded with an equaliser on 65 minutes. Kyle Bennett's clever footwork in the penalty area put Tulloch through to hit a shot into the top corner from 12 yards.

The Wolverhampton youngsters continued to press and came close to getting the winner when Fungandel Moke hit a shot from 20 yards that went just wide.
