Defeat Despite Dominance

Posted on: Sun 23 Sep 2007

Despite dominating proceedings in their opening League fixture against Huddersfield Town, the Wolves Academy under 18s slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Compton Park on Saturday.

Coach John Perkins described the game as being totally one-sided but his charges just couldn't find the back of the net.

"It was unbelievable," he said. "We had virtually all of the play but missed chance after chance.

"Billy Lumley, our keeper, was barely tested although he was beaten after 29 minutes when Town scored a goal that was completely against the run of play.

"But, having said all that, it is down to us to put the ball in the net and given the amount of opportunities that we had, we should have done.

"Finishing will be high on the agenda in training this week but the one thing that I am certain about is that we are not going to be changing our style of play which is one of passing football."
