Fans asked for donations

Wolves Women are holding their annual collection around Molineux ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley (3pm).

And fans attending the game are being encouraged to donate if they can to boost club funds.

Wolves Women are part of Wolves Community Trust and so while receiving administrative and financial support from the club also rely on donations and their own fundraising.

Laura Milburn, Sports Manager with the Wolves Community Trust, says:  “We run six teams for Wolves Women – a first team, reserve team and Under-18s and then also Girls’ squads at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels.

“The club provide Wolves Women with a great deal of support and the administration for all the teams is run through the Community Trust.

“The running costs for the teams are quite high and the players do have to pay to play.

“The Women’s team were promoted last season and now play in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division, the third tier of women’s football.

“That has been a great achievement, but playing at the higher level also incurs further costs to be met by different fundraising initiatives and sponsorship.

“So any help the fans can give by donating to the collection on Saturday will be very much appreciated.”

The Girls’ and Women’s section of the club is part of Wolves Community Trust, and relies on fund-raising and sponsorship.

The Senior Section comprises 3 squads: First Team, Reserve Team and Under 18s.

Wolves Women’s home matches are played at Castlecroft Stadium while this Sunday sees them travelling to face Sheffield.

The Reserves and Under 18s both play at Bentley Leisure Pavilion, Walsall.

The Reserves compete in the FA Northern/Midlands Reserve League, while the Under 18s compete in the Central Warwickshire Girls’ Football League.

There are also squads at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels, all competing in the Central Warwickshire League, and playing their home games at Bentley. They’re having a fantastic season (when the weather allows!) and have all reached the finals of their respective league cups.

All sponsorship is also very much appreciated while the bucket collection always makes a big contribution to club funds.
