Wolves would like to make fans aware of the likely postponement of the local derby with Walsall, currently scheduled for Saturday, September 7 (3pm) at Molineux.
The Sky Bet League One fixture falls on an international weekend, and, as things stand, it is expected Wolves will pick up too many international call-ups to be able to do anything other than request a postponement.
Under the rules, a club can request a postponement if they have three or more players called up at any combination of full, Under-21, Under-20 or Under-19 levels.
Within the squad Wolves currently possess many full internationals as well as others at Under-21 levels and below.
Whilst the request for postponement cannot be made until the international call-ups are received, Wolves have been in contact with Walsall regarding possible alternative dates and would like to make fans aware so as to prevent them making early travel arrangements which are not then required. The first available date after the international period would be Tuesday 17th September.
A similar issue may well arise with the away fixtures at Carlisle and Notts County in October and November, respectively. Both games are currently scheduled on international match weekends.
An update will be provided when more definite information is available.
