Friendlies at Peterborough and Telford

Wolves’ first team squad are to step up their pre-season preparations with more minutes under their belts in tonight’s friendlies at Peterborough (7.45pm) and Telford (7.30pm) respectively.

In the three senior fixtures to date the players have generally been given 45 minutes each, but that will change tonight with one squad heading to London Road and the other senior players involved so far appearing at Telford.

They will also be joined at the New Bucks Head by several of the senior players currently away from the first team group and training with Steve Hodge, keeping their own match fitness levels up in readiness for what lies ahead.

“The first-team group is going to Peterborough and that’s where my focus will be because I’ll be there,” said Jackett.

“We know them well and it will be a good surface at London Road – we’re looking forward to the game.

“From our point of view, we’re stepping on from the 45 minutes that the players have played so far.

“I feel we’ve come back in to quite a good rhythm and it’s been as you’d expect because people know their jobs and it’s been a settled group apart from Tommy Rowe, who’s not available at the moment, and Rajiv Van La Parra coming in.

“We’re looking for that to continue now in the final two weeks of pre-season where there’s friendlies and then a good week where we gather all of our strength for the big kick-off which we’re all looking forward to.

“For the Telford game, people that need to play to get games in and match fitness, they come into that category at present.

“I’m sure for them to be at their maximum and at their peak to get the moves they want a games programme as part of pre-season is important.”

Roger Johnson is currently being treated for an ankle injury so is unlikely to feature at Telford, but Jamie O’Hara, Stephen Ward, Kevin Doyle, Georg Margreitter, Razak Boukari and Tongo Doumbia could all figure.

Admission at Peterborough tonight is £12 for adults, £10 for Over-60s and 18-21s, or £7 for Under-18s.

Admission at Telford is £10 for adults, £8 concessions or £2 for Under-16s.  As this is a Telford fixture and not a Wolves’ Under-21 League fixture there will be no free admission for Wolves’ Season Ticket Holders.
