Interviews taking place

Wolves are moving closer towards finalising their new scouting structure after boss Ståle Solbakken revealed interviews had taken place to head up the department following the departure of Chief Scout Dave Bowman.

The boss has revealed that completing final plans about the best way to take the scouting network forward will determine which of the applicants is appointed to the position.

He said:  “We’re interviewing now and my assistant Johan has taken part in that, together with me, Jez and Richard Skirrow.

“Some of the people are ready to be appointed now, but now it’s a question of do we go for one or two or how do we arrange them and what structure are we going for?

“The structure has to come together, but we’re close to deciding and I don’t it will take long before we’re ready to present something.

“But we have a lot of people working together in the market now and we’re also attending matches too.

“I don’t think anyone should worry about us (missing out on anyone).

“I’m 100 per cent sure we will be better for this.”

And the boss has no concerns about the ongoing scouting situation ahead of the new appointment.

Players out on loan such as Leigh Griffiths and Jake Cassidy are continuing to be closely monitored ahead of their current loan spells coming to an end in January.

The boss confirmed:  “We have followed these players’ progress.

“If it was as simple as that, we’d have them back here, but there are reason why Leigh Griffiths is playing for Hibernian and Jake Cassidy is playing for Tranmere.

“We try to see that they’re making progress.

“Johan and Patrick went to see Griffiths at the Hibernian v St Johnstone game last Wednesday, and I watched Hearts v Hibernian on Sunday on TV.

“So we follow them. Griffiths was unlucky in the game I saw because he was stretchered off with an injury!

“So we will see. It’s very easy to say if we brought him and him back, we’d be up there.

“It’s like when I got stick from people saying ‘how can you allow Jamie Reckord to go to Coventry when you’ve only got one left back and Elokobi is injured?’

“But they changed manager and now he isn’t playing in the team and he’s back here and we have to see what that has done to him.

“There are a lot of things that go on.”
