Bakary Sako has today been named as Wolves’ Player of the Season.
The winger, who turns 25 today, topped the fans’ poll to claim the award, ahead of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle and Björn Sigurdarson, who complete the top four.
Sako arrived at Molineux from St Etienne last summer, and made 38 appearances, scoring ten goals, before being injured in the victory over Bristol City in March.
He has now returned to training and is battling to be involved in tomorrow’s crucial game with Burnley.
Sako said: “I’m very pleased to have won this award and want to say thanks to all the supporters.
“Even when we have been in trouble they have always supported us and I want to say thanks for that from all the team.
“It is now up to us to get the results needed in the last two games to stay in the league.”
Under the present circumstances and given the importance of the game with Burnley, there are no current plans to present the Player of the Season award to Sako at Molineux tomorrow.
However, with tomorrow marking the final home game of the 2012/13 campaign, the players would like to remain on the pitch at full time to applaud fans for their support during the season.
Fans who wish to receive the players’ appreciation are therefore asked to remain in their seats at full time.
