Reserves draw at Liverpool.

Liverpool 1 (Ngoo 34)

Wolves 1 (Winnall 73)

A super strike at Liverpool from Sam Winnall earned Wolves a point from their first game in the newly formed Barclays Under 21 Reserve League.
The striker took a short pass from Sam Whittall and lashed a great shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area to cancel out Michael Ngoo’s opener for the Merseysiders.
Ngoo almost opened the scoring in the first minute when he got a head to Jordon Ibe’s corner and forced a save from Aaron McCarey who needed two attempts to cleanly gather the ball.
Danny Pacheco drove over the bar from 20 yards and, after Liam McAlinden played the ball through, there was a half chance for Zeli Ismail but home keeper Peter Galacsi won the race to the ball.
A slip by Andre Wisdom left McAlinden with a clear path to goal but he hesitated and fired straight at Galacsi as Wisdom got back to challenge.
McCarey blocked bravely at Pacheco’s feet after the striker had been played through by Craig Roddan and then Adorjan and Pacheco both had shots blocked in quick succession.
Liverpool took the lead in the 34th minute when Pacheco played Brad Smith through on the overlap and the full back’s low cross hit Ngoo and bounced into the net from close range.
Just before the interval, Adorjan volleyed high over the bar after another centre from Smith.

Half-Time: Liverpool 1 Wolves 0

There was another bad Liverpool miss just after the resumption when Pacheco was wide of the mark from close in.
After good work from Winnall there was a half chance for McAlinden but his shot on the turn didn’t have the power to beat Galacsi.
Kristian Kostrna replaced Jordan Cranston in the 65th minute and the substitute almost had an immediate impact with a cross to McAlinden whose header drifted narrowly wide.
Wolves grew stronger as the half wore on and in the 73rd minute came Winnall’s equaliser.
Just before the end, Ethan Ebanks Blake’s header was saved by Galacsi after a cross by Kostrna who then became the only booking of the game when he pulled back Smith by his shirt.
