On The Attack!

Van La Parra eyes exciting approach

Rajiv van La Parra is relishing the prospect of taking on the Sky Bet Championship’s defences – and can’t wait to get back for pre-season!

The flying Dutchman has agreed a three-year contract to move to Molineux, and is keen to show what he can do on his first tilt at English football.

A winger who can operate on either flank, the 23-year-old is already sizing up what is in store as a refreshed Wolves side return to the second tier.

He said:  “What do the coaches expect of me here? I think I have to show them.  They know me well from watching me play which is a good thing but I just have to do my best and try and help the team be successful.

“I think I am a player who always wants to search for the one-against-one opportunities.

“For me that is the most important thing because I am the attacker and I search for that chance when I can.

“I also need to get some good crosses in for the strikers and also to score some goals and be an important player for Wolves.

“I have heard that supporters here like to see wingers – hopefully they will like me as well!

Van La Parra continued:  “I heard it is a young team here which is good.

“Young players always want to do well and improve and they have a lot of potential to grow.

“That is the same for me – I am a young player and I want to grow with the team.

“Hopefully we can go to the Premier League.”

Van La Parra has now returned home to the Netherlands before coming back to start pre-season in a fortnight’s time.

He admits he can’t wait!

“It is good for me that there is not long before we come back for pre-season,” he said.

“I love football and I do not want to stay too long without the ball!

“With the move now complete I can go home and get things sorted out and do some training before coming back.

“I will be back fit and ready so I can get started with the team.

“I know this club has the ambition to go to the Premier League and that is why I signed for Wolves.

“That is also my ambition and I like teams who think like that and want to progress and not stay where they are.”
