Ten join Academy's full-time programme

Wolves have welcomed ten new scholars into their full-time Academy programme this season.

The first year scholars will join those moving up into the second year of the Under-18 programme, now set to benefit from yesterday’s announcement of a new sponsorship deal with the University of Wolverhampton.

“We have a mixture of scholars joining the full-time programme this year, including several from the local area and others from further afield such as Ireland and also Romania,” says Academy Manager Gareth Prosser.

“As a Category One Academy, our focus remains on maintaining that balance between ensuring we spot the most talented players on the local scene, as well as bringing in quality from other areas as well.

“It is a great achievement for those lads to be coming into the building on a full-time basis, at a particularly exciting time for the club with the link-up with the University and the impressive new Academy facility opening in September.

“But as the lads know, and as we will keep telling them, the real hard work starts now, and they have to show the correct levels of ability and dedication to go on and try and win that first professional contract.”
