The inaugural Club Legends Cup to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia takes place at Birmingham’s LG Arena on Saturday – with a team of former Wolves stars locking horns with their Midlands rivals for the top prize.

A whole afternoon of entertainment for all the family proceeds the main competition, which will also include fans playing alongside their heroes having won an auction to raise money for the important charity.

Tickets are still available priced at £11.70 for adults and £3.20 for Under-16s – visit www.clublegendscup.co.uk for details or to purchase.

Meanwhile we asked Wolves’ team captain Matt Murray to qive us a quickfire whistle-stop profile of those who will be donning the gold in Birmingham on Saturday night – as well as a certain club legend as manager.

STEVE BULL (manager)

Bully, the ledge!  He won’t stand for any messing about as manager and we’ll be following his instructions. Just a shame he can’t be up there banging the goals in!

MATT MURRAY

I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk for a week after playing in this tournament.  It also involves facing some penalties and it was good to limber up last week by facing some spot kicks from some Formula One drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.  Not sure Lewis would have gone on to win the British Grand Prix if he’d taken my advice on driving!

ROB EDWARDS

A great guy, one of my best mates in football who is going to go on and be a really good coach.  Rob is just about walking again after playing 90 minutes in Jody Craddock’s testimonial.

JODY CRADDOCK

Like Rob, just about walking again after playing 90 minutes in his own testimonial!  Top bloke and the respect with which he is held by team-mates and fans alike was shown with such a great turnout for that game from both Wolves and Sunderland supporters.  As ever, he’ll want to win!

LEE MILLS

Millsy has done some coaching with me of the team at Telford College.  It’s fair to say he’s perhaps not as mobile as he used to be – but he can still strike a nice ball!  We’ll need him to!

ADE AKINBIYI

Ade – the machine! He’s still in very good nick.  I’ll be aiming for that big chest when I throw the ball forward. Another top guy who will be looking forward to wearing the Wolves shirt again.

ADAM PROUDLOCK

One of my former room-mates at Wolves, and, if he can survive my sleep-walking, he can survive anything.  He’s won every medal going playing in the Shropshire Sunday League, running the show on and off the pitch!

THE FANS (Paul Terry/Jake Everley/Kristien Neve/Dorian Tranter)

I hope the fans have a great day getting involved and playing in the team. Hopefully they’ll be decent as well – we may need them!

AND FINALLY….

On the tournament in general it’s something we are all really looking forward to. It will be good fun, but we will want to win, and more importantly it is raising money for a great cause.  I do a lot of work on Free Radio with Ian Taylor and he’s been giving me a lot of banter, saying he’s going to ‘megs’ me and all sorts. We shall see! Hopefully we’ll have plenty of Wolves supporters at the LG Arena cheering us on!

*Thanks go to Altodigital who are Wolves' shirt sponsors for the event.
