Liam McAlinden is set to join Shrewsbury on a three-month emergency loan in pursuit of some regular first team football.
The paperwork is expected to be completed tomorrow morning on a deal which will see the 20-year-old striker make the short temporary move to Graham Turner’s side.
With Kevin Doyle, Leigh Griffiths and Bjorn Sigurdarson having been used as the main strikes so far this season, McAlinden has found his options limited.
He is now hopeful of a run in the Shrewsbury side to continue building up his experience, and should be eligible for Saturday’s game with Gillingham providing the paperwork is complete.
There will be a 24-hour recall clause in the deal after the first 28 days.
