Wolves are completing a deal to bring in Marian Kello on a short term loan as goalkeeping cover until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old gloveman, who made his name making almost a century of appearances for Hearts from 2008 to 2012, will join on an emergency loan subject to international clearance.
Kello is a free agent having most recently played in Romania with FC Astra Giurgiu, the club he left in December.
He also spent a spell on trial at Wolves at the start of this season and will battle it out with Aaron McCarey as cover for Dorus De Vries.
“We’re in the middle of signing Marian as cover for the rest of the season,” said boss Dean Saunders.
“Obviously having lost Carl we needed some cover incase Dorus gets injured and have recalled Aaron (McCarey) from Walsall.
“Marian is an experienced goalkeeper and a Slovakian international and if he has to step in he will be able to deal with it.
“Aaron will probably be on the bench on Saturday but we need the extra cover for the final eight games of the season.”
Kello added: "This is a new challenge for me and I am looking forward to being here.
"I know the club are in a difficult position which is unfortunate but from what I have seen since coming back the team have the spirit and the quality to stay in the Championship."
