James Henry marked his fourth game in the club’s colours with another impressive display and the opening goal in the victory over Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening.
The winger freely admits that luck was on his side when the ball rebounded off him and rolled into the net as he opened his Wolves account.
He explained: “I just made the run and it was a great bit of play from Sako and a great ball in.
“I wanted to get myself in position to try to score, and, while I didn’t know too much about it, I was delighted to be off the mark.
“The conditions were tough out there. I don’t think I’ve ever played in rain like there was during the first half – it was crazy!
“But I thought we put on a fantastic display and used it to our advantage at times and played some good football. At other times we had to put the ball in behind and chase it and we did that as well.
“So we’re delighted to have got the three points and now we can rest up and look forward to Saturday.”
Considering the appalling conditions, both teams did their best to keep the game moving. Jamie added: “It was encouraging. We always try to play good football. We changed formation and went 4-3-3 to try to match up with them and I think it was definitely the right decision.
“In the second half we really got on top and we dominated and fully deserved the win.
“I think it was just a case of being patient – when you’re at home and it’s 0-0 at half-time, it’s never a bad result.
“You want to get an early goal but sometimes you have to be patient and that’s what the manager emphasised – be patient and the game will be there for us to win.
“We just needed to up it by one or two per cent and we did that and got the win.
“I think their keeper made a couple of good saves and the ball just got away from Griffiths at the end with the little chip he tried.”
There seems little doubt that the winger is enjoying life at his new club as he says: “There’s still more to come; I’ve still got a bit more match fitness to come but I’m really enjoying it. I’m just looking to keep playing games and keep doing well.”
