Kenny Jackett says there will be further talks about Max Clayton’s future after the striker played the final quarter-of-an-hour of Wolves’ pre-season friendly with Celta Vigo.
Although not given too many chances to shine at Molineux, Jackett has been able to take a close eye at the 19-year-old frontman in training this week and will now assess things further as to any potential next step.
Although out of contract, Clayton’s most recent club Crewe Alexandra are entitled to compensation due to the player’s age, either agreed between different clubs or decided by a tribunal.
“Max Clayton has just completed his week and we will see now,” said Jackett.
“Kevin Thelwell has been at the game as well and we will talk about the situation.
“He has had a decent week and looks a very good footballer.
“Although he didn’t have much time out there I don’t think he looked out of place.
“We will talk to Max and to his advisors, and whether it’s a longer trial or another game we will see.
“When he came on he certainly didn’t look out of place and he has a very good pedigree.
“As a Nantwich boy, our scouting department with Kevin Thelwell and Stuart Webber know him very well.”
