Jarvis comeback in Wigan victory

In a behind closed doors friendly at Compton Park, the Wolves development squad enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Wednesday afternoon.

Liam McAlinden opened the scoring on nine minutes when he ran onto Sam Winnall’s lofted through pass and beat the advancing Wigan keeper with a perfectly placed chip.

Seven minutes later, McAlinden struck again as he reacted quickly to poke the ball home after Winnall had nodded down Matt Jarvis’s free-kick from the left of the box.

The third goal was a wonderful 30-yard volley from Jack Price that flew into the top corner of the net past the helpless keeper.

Four minutes into the second half, Ethan Ebanks-Landell  put the ball into his own net for a Wigan consolation as Wolves went on to finish as worthy winners.

Matt Jarvis came through 45 minutes on his return from a groin injury.
