With three of his squad set for lengthy absences following Saturday’s victory over Bristol City, Dean Saunders is stepping up his quest to bring in loan players as Wolves enter the final straight of the campaign.
Dorus De Vries looks certain to deputise for the injured Carl Ikeme and Aaron McCarey
has been recalled from his loan at Walsall as cover for the Dutchman.
But added to the manager’s woes were the injuries suffered by Bakary Sako (hamstring) and David Edwards (metatarsal).
Regarding loans Dean said: “We’re looking to do something, especially with the three injuries.
“I might have to look at the goalkeeping situation as well.”
That said, the boss has every confidence in De Vries to stake his claim for the remainder of the season as he added: “Dorus’ number one priority is to stop the ball going in, but his distribution is good.
“He did really well when he came on – his kicks set up both of our goals, he’s brilliant with his feet, he’s calm and he set a club record 26 clean sheets at Swansea, so I’ve no hesitations about playing him.”
