On behalf of everyone at Molineux, a very happy birthday to Peter Broadbent who is 80 today.
Peter, who was one of the first players to be installed in the club’s Hall of Fame, is widely regarded by many Wolves supporters as the greatest player ever to don the gold and black.
Sadly he hasn’t been in the best of health for a number of years now but, on this special day for him, it is perhaps worth recalling the many talents of a man who could leave opposition defenders either sat on the floor or completely wrongfooted with a simple drop of the shoulder.
Older supporters remember with fondness how if Peter dummied one way, the crowd on the South Bank would all lean the other. He won three League Championship medals with the club and was also an FA Cup winner in 1960.
He made a total of 497 appearances scoring 145 goals for Wolves in a spell that spanned 14 years.
Many happy returns Peter, from us all.
