Wolves Under-18s played out an entertaining 4-4 draw with Blackburn in a game in which they were never behind.
Indeed Wolves marched into a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes thanks to goals from Jesse Devers, Ibrahim Keita and Ryan Rainey, pictured.
But Luke Wall struck twice before half time for Rovers to drag the home side back into the game.
And on 50 minutes Blackburn were level as Liam Langford scored from distance via a deflection.
Wolves rallied to again take the lead with a chip from Regan Carthey but the spoils in the eight goal thriller were shared late on as Wall completed his hat trick.
“We started really well and got three goals by being effective in our set plays,” said coach Mick Halsall.
“We were looking comfortable in all aspects of our play and could have had more in that period of time with better finishing.
“We then allowed them back into the game by conceding two goals before half time after certain players again made mistakes.
“The second half then became a test of mental strength for the players as they had put themselves under pressure by conceding the two goals.
“They did not deal with it as we conceded another sloppy goal by a player in the wide areas not doing his job properly.
“We got ourselves back in front but again conceded another poor goal with another mistake to make it 4-4 at the final whistle.”
