Kenny Jackett is pleased to have experienced midfielder Dave Edwards back in harness to increase his options for the remainder of the season.
The Welsh midfielder had been in good form prior to his recent foot injury, and will be keen to return to that now fit again having come off the bench against Brentford last weekend.
With Edwards offering different qualities to the rest of his midfielders, Jackett is pleased to have him available again for what is a congested fixture list between now and the end of the season.
“It was good to see him come back after playing the last 20 minutes,” says Jackett.
“I thought he was o-k – he was out for four weeks, but he’s there now and he was fine on Saturday.
“I think the system we play suits him – he’s good as an attacking or a defensive midfield player.
“He has that flexibility and has played well for us this season when he’s played.
“Now he is fit again, similar to Leon (Clarke), I don’t lose any sleep about whether I’m going to start him or not but I do like to have him around.
“He’s been a good player for me and for us this season.”
Edwards recent problem was irritation of a previous impact injury, and Jackett is confident there are no lasting effects given he has now come through a fortnight’s training.
“He looked good in training all last week, hence then he was involved on Saturday and he was the first sub used and he looked fine, and against good-quality opposition,” added the Head Coach.
“So I’ve got no worries that he’s fully-fit now.”
